Gold Pictures

In 1817 William Gold was born at Dalbog farm in the remote countryside of Glen Esk and the photograph on the left shows it as it was when we visited in 2007. By the 1841 census he was working south of the glen at a large farm, Dalladies, in the flat land near the village of Fettercairn and the photograph on the right shows the bothy there as it now looks.

     

William then married into a well-known, local family, the Duries, and they stayed on at Dalladies for many, many years. Many members of our Durie family are buried in a lovely little churchyard in Pert shown below.

Grandmother and Great Grandmother

Here are Barbara Garland Gold and her mother Joan Robertson.

Joan and Garland are buried in the same grave in Jeanfield cemetery in Perth. Although the impressive stone has fallen over here is the sad, telling inscription:
