Note
James Cargill was a Trinity Pilot in Arbroath, his gravestone gives his age as 69 at the time of his death in 1849. He and his family were living in Arbroath at the 1841 census. In the 1841 census his age is listed as 55.
James Cargill would have been approx. 43 when he married Elizabeth Eaton so it's quite likely she was his second wife. He may possibly be the same James Cargill who married Helen Beattie in 1807.
James Cargill's son David is listed in the 1841 census, aged 20, but there's no record of his birth, think his surname is Spink and he was the son of Elizabeth Eaton and her first husband John Spink.
